José Carreras

An Autobiography
This
is one of the most astonishing and heart-warming stories that spans
the worlds of music, science,
and superstardom. Born in Barcelona in 1946, tenor JOSÉ CARRERAS
is a magnificent vocal
poet and one of the greatest voices of our times. He is also an
outstanding human being. His idealism and
artistry, as well as courage in overcoming a mortal illness and
its debilitating treatment, captured popular imagination beyond
the scope of the big talent industry that is opera. He is so well
loved that he is becoming an international folk hero and his book
is popular in Europe and Asia.
His story is
intense yet easy reading, for he tells it as he sings: without guile,
directly, openly, with honesty, dignity and deep feeling, resisting
every opportunity to sentimentalize. A position of a star whose
unassuming attitude earned him the nickname of anti-divo. "This
book doesn't so much explain my life as it reflects my thoughts,
feelings, and states of mind and spirit," says author CARRERAS.
