Each member
of the José Carreras Society of America undoubtedly derives different
benefits from membership. Some particularly look forward to the
JCSA newsletter (CARRERAS WORLD) as a source of information
about Mr. Carreras's career. Others enjoy using their creativity
by contributing to the newsletter. And still others appreciate the
opportunity to acquire items offered in the Merchandise Catalog,
which among many other things include exclusive video and audio
tapes, cards, sweatshirts, key rings, bookmarks and mouse pads.
However, certain benefits
of membership are certainly common to all members. These include
the opportunity to build lasting friendships with other Carreras
admirers, to exchange with others the experience of listening to
one of the greatest voices of our time and, most important of all,
knowing that they are helping Mr. Carreras in the cause closest
to his heart - the fight against leukemia. "TOGETHER WE WILL
FIND A CURE".
Our
illustrated Society newsletter, THE CARRERAS WORLD, is issued
four times each year and provides news, articles, and information
about Mr. Carreras, including detailed schedules of his appearances
all over the world, discography updates, opera discussions, and
MUCH MORE!
This informative publication
is the means by which the Society members around the world meet
and share ideas, experiences, and the joy of being a Carreras admirer.
The Society's various
philanthropic endeavors include:
Support and fundraising
for the José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation,
founded by Mr. Carreras after his illness.
A bone marrow
registry program located in the USA and Canada.
An alternate blood
donor program for platelets to help fight not only Leukemia, but
other life-threatening illnesses as well.
A ticket fund
for underprivileged youths to attend Mr. Carreras' performances,
in order to promote the love of good music among the new generations.
